Paisley Smith Filmmaker
Worry Dolls

PAISLEY SMITH is a director and writer known for creating imaginative, impactful films, from traditional cinema to room-scale interactive virtual reality.

Paisley’s cinematic style is playful and honest. Her passion for storytelling is driven by personal experience and a drive to say what is left unsaid—family secrets, hidden truths, overlooked perspectives—by making films that spark conversation, self-reflection, and community connection.

A collector of intriguing objects as much as stories, Paisley's love of art history, handmade craft, and world design shine through in each project.

Paisley received an MFA in Television and Film Production from the University of Southern California's  School of Cinematic Arts (2015) and a BAH in Film and Media Studies and Art History from Queen's University.

She is a Senior Civic Media Fellow at the USC Annenberg Innovation Lab and serves on the executive board of ArtStarts in Schools, which promotes creativity in young people.

She lives and works in 'Vancouver' on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish First Nations.
